In a recent update from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, it has been revealed that Arsenal have successfully negotiated a deal with Dutch powerhouse Ajax to secure the services of Setford. The transfer fee for Setford is anticipated to be just under £1 million, with additional add-ons included. The young talent, aged 18, is set to pen a four-year contract that will see him remain at the Emirates stadium until 2028.
Rumors had circulated a few days ago suggesting that Arsenal were in talks to bring Setford on board. And now, as per the latest reports from Fabrizio Romano, it appears that those negotiations have reached a positive conclusion. Romano also mentioned that Setford is scheduled to undergo a medical examination at Arsenal early this week before the deal is finalized.
Setford’s journey to Ajax mirrors that of his brother Charlie, having joined the club’s youth setup back in 2013 as an U8 player. When asked to describe his style of play, Setford referred to it as “intuitive,” stating, “I play more based on intuition. Nevertheless, I often make the right choice when I’m in goal.”
