Barcelona are set to continue their perfect start to the league season as they prepare to face off against struggling Getafe on Tuesday evening.
The Blaugrana currently sit four points clear at the top of the standings, while Getafe find themselves in the relegation zone.
Match preview:
Barcelona headed to the Estadio de la Ceramica following a disappointing Champions League loss to Monaco. However, they bounced back with a 5-1 victory over Villarreal, with goals from Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Pablo Torre. Unfortunately, Barcelona’s goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen suffered a serious knee injury during the match.
Despite the injury setback, Barcelona extended their unbeaten away league streak against Villarreal to 16 matches and maintained their lead over Real Madrid in the title race. The team will now look to continue their strong home form at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
Barcelona has dominated their recent home fixtures against Getafe, winning their last six encounters and scoring 16 goals while only conceding four.
Team News:
Getafe, who finished 12th last season, have struggled at the start of the current campaign. They have managed just three goals in six matches and are on an 11-game winless run in the league.
Despite having one of the best defensive records in the league, Getafe are struggling to find the back of the net. Manager Jose Bordalas will be hoping for an improved performance as they aim to secure their first victory since April.
In Sunday’s derby against Leganes, Getafe managed to salvage a draw thanks to a late penalty from Borja Mayoral. However, they will need to improve their attacking display if they are to get a positive result against Barcelona.
