Reports suggest that Aaron Ramsdale has received a boost in his quest to secure a move away from Arsenal.
Despite putting on impressive performances in his first two seasons at the Emirates Stadium, Ramsdale found himself displaced by David Raya last season following the Spaniard’s arrival.
It is widely known that the English goalkeeper is eager to find regular playing time elsewhere, whether that be in a permanent deal or a loan move.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are in no hurry to let go of the Three Lions player, understanding that they could benefit from keeping him around in the short term.
If no suitable offers materialize for the 26-year-old, it seems likely that he will continue to warm the bench for Arsenal in the near future.
How will Arsenal respond to the Ramsdale situation?
Currently, it remains unclear whether Arsenal will accept Wolves’ offer or negotiate for a higher loan fee or a better potential buy option.
However, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Mikel Arteta and the club’s hierarchy are pushing forward with their efforts to secure their preferred replacement.
Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who has been linked with last season’s Premier League runners-up for some time now.
Romano suggests that Arsenal will only formalize an offer to Espanyol if the Spanish club is willing to accept Wolves’ bid for Ramsdale.
Is Garcia a suitable choice to replace Ramsdale?
At just 23 years old, Garcia is far from his peak as a goalkeeper, but his potential is evident as shown by his contract running until 2028.
On the downside, he has limited experience with only 30 senior appearances, with nearly half of them coming in the Spanish second division.
Nevertheless, Garcia currently holds the number one spot at Espanyol and recently featured in their 1-0 loss to Real Valladolid in La Liga.
As a former Spain Under-21 international, Garcia is now waiting to see how the Ramsdale situation unfolds, perhaps already pondering whether he will be on Arsenal’s bench for their upcoming fixture against Aston Villa.
