It comes as no surprise that more than half of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have chosen the Swede for their team. Newcastle will kick off their season at home against newly-promoted Southampton, a team that let in 63 goals in the Championship last season.
“The tricky winger will have a field day against a leaky Southampton defense,” said one analyst. “And at his price, he’s a steal for a midfielder with a knack for scoring goals.”
In addition, with fellow midfielder Elliot Anderson’s departure to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle’s attacks are likely to rely more on Gordon. His style as a direct winger will allow him to set up scoring opportunities for his teammates regularly. Isak’s consistent finishing will also mean that Gordon will rack up plenty of assist points.
