In a report by a football journalist, it has been disclosed that Chelsea are prepared to engage in further transfer dealings with Strasbourg. Both clubs are owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, with Strasbourg serving as a platform for Chelsea’s young talents.
During the 2022-23 season, Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos had loan spells at Strasbourg, with Santos already back on loan for the 2024-25 season. Additionally, Caleb Wiley, a young American full-back, has also joined Strasbourg recently. Chelsea have already utilized two of their six allotted foreign loans.
Recent reports suggest that Diego Moreira could be on the move to Strasbourg, with journalist Sacha Tavolieri disclosing that Chelsea are looking to sell rather than loan the winger. The proposed deal is said to be worth €2m, with Chelsea including a buy-back clause in the agreement.
Moreira, who was signed by Chelsea on a free transfer last summer, has the potential to generate a profit for the club while adhering to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations. Despite limited game time during his loan spells, Moreira impressed in Premier League 2 matches, scoring five goals in nine appearances.
Although Moreira has only featured in one first-team game for Chelsea so far, there is optimism that a move to Strasbourg could provide him with more playing opportunities. Overall, Chelsea seem poised to make strategic decisions regarding their loan arrangements and player transfers with Strasbourg in the near future.
