Chelsea’s latest recruit, Filip Jorgensen, is eager to make his first starting appearance for the Blues as they gear up to face Real Madrid in an enticing friendly in Charlotte on Tuesday.
The former Villarreal goalkeeper, who is familiar with Los Blancos from his time in La Liga, was on the bench for Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to Manchester City. He did make a cameo off the bench against America in his Chelsea debut.
Following Robert Sanchez’s concession of four goals against the Premier League champions, Jorgensen is hopeful of getting the nod for Tuesday’s match, especially since Enzo Maresca has been rotating players during pre-season.
Reece James and Levi Colwill are expected to retain their spots in the defense, but there may be considerations to start Ben Chilwell and Benoit Badiashile over Malo Gusto and Tosin Adarabioyo, with the latter failing to impress against Man City.
Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson are still sidelined due to injury, while Cole Palmer, Marc Cucurella, and Conor Gallagher are on a break following their participation in the Euro 2024 final.
Possible Chelsea starting lineup for the match:
Jorgensen; James, Badiashile, Colwill, Chilwell; Dewsbury-Hall, Fernandez; Madueke, Nkunku, Sterling; Guiu
Real Madrid’s lineup is yet to be confirmed.
