Liverpool’s talented teenage midfielder Bobby Clark has reportedly had a £12m asking price set by the club, following the rejection of an initial bid from Red Bull Salzburg. The 19-year-old missed out on the US tour due to a back injury but has since returned to training with the Under-21s at Kirkby.
Clark made appearances in twelve first-team matches for Liverpool last season, scoring one goal and assisting in their 6-1 win against Sparta Prague at Anfield. Salzburg’s new manager, Pep Lijnders, who was previously an assistant coach at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, is keen on bringing the young midfielder to Austria for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Having worked closely with Clark during his time at Liverpool, Lijnders is believed to be a big fan of the promising talent.
According to reports from The Athletic, Salzburg made an offer of £6m for Clark this summer, which was promptly turned down by Liverpool as it fell short of their valuation of the player. The Reds are not in a rush to part ways with the midfielder and have now set their asking price at £12m.
Despite this asking price, Salzburg remains keen on the youngster and are poised to make another bid soon. Apart from Salzburg, Championship sides Norwich City and Leeds United, as well as Scottish Premiership giants Rangers, have also shown interest in Clark.
In addition to Clark, Liverpool’s James McConnell and Kaide Gordon are also attracting interest for loan moves from clubs outside of the Premier League. Ben Doak is also reportedly in the sights of newly promoted Leicester City and Southampton for a possible loan move.
The uncertain futures of Liverpool’s youngsters extend to Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho, both of whom featured in the victories over Real Betis and Arsenal in pre-season. Van den Berg attracted interest from PSV Eindhoven, with a bid of about £10m being rejected by Liverpool.
