In a report from FootballTransfers, Arsenal’s interest in Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro has been revealed. The 22-year-old made the jump to the Premier League from Watford last summer, avoiding another season in the Championship.
Pedro quickly made an impact on the South Coast, scoring in the Europa League and contributing nine goals and three assists in the Premier League despite not starting every match. With a total of 20 goals in 40 appearances for Brighton, Pedro had a successful debut season.
Arsenal is reportedly eyeing Pedro as a potential replacement for Eddie Nketiah, who is nearing a move to Marseille. The Gunners have already rejected a £23m bid for Nketiah, who is still part of Mikel Arteta’s pre-season squad.
Brighton is said to be seeking around £50m for Pedro, but it remains to be seen if Arsenal will meet that valuation. With other attacking targets not panning out, the Gunners may turn their attention to Pedro as they look to bolster their squad depth. Nketiah’s desire for regular playing time could force Arsenal’s hand in the transfer market.
